Renovating a Notting Hill Workplace before Moving Office

Posted on 29/08/2014

If you’re considering renovating a Notting Hill workplace, then you are likely a successful business owner who needs no advice in any of the many realms of the office, but should you feel like advice would be helpful, then we are always on hand to help out and give you our handy hints and tips as to how to make your office a haven of results and profits!

The most important aspect of redoing an office is that it does its job. Like your workforce, your office is an employee; you pay for it in order that it returns you with payment in the form of good workplace ambience and thus forth better work ethic and better results. It is hopeless to redecorate an office in an expensive way if no thought is put towards how it will affect your workforce. Just like a house that looks amazing but has no kitchen or bathrooms, an office that is aesthetically pleasing, but ignores the employee or client, is useless.

Think about what you want your office to say about your business, and how you want your workforce to feel. Moving office can be a very stressful experience not only for the employees but for the company’s clients too. Often the best thing to do is strike a balance between the workplace feeling well maintained and designed, but also not too showy, so that there is little distraction for your employees from the work at hand. Colors like off white and pale pastels will give a warm atmosphere, and avoid feeling clinical, but will also be subtle and never overtake the room. Using furniture that feels modern and new will keep the place looking smart and its functionality will help the staff, but be sure that it is not too design orientated or ostentatious, as these kinds of frills can suggest over-spending and frivolousness.

Lighting is almost as important as furniture. There are health problems associated with certain types of lighting, which can cause serious problems for your staff’s mental as well as physical well-being. This is obviously disastrous from a moral point of view, but if we are being cynical, it is also extremely bad news for your company’s productivity. Warm lighting that suggests sunlight is important, as stark white lighting can be very depressing. You don’t want your workplace to feel like a hospital, so do some research in to the ways in which humans react to different types of lighting. Having plenty of windows is another way to improve the morale of your staff. In the same vein as the type of lighting that the office has, windows allow natural light in, including all important sun rays, which are a source of vitamin D, which is a natural pick up. Health defects like seasonal affected disorder can be caused by a lack of sun and result in pretty severe depression, and with that, a lack of drive.

Temperature plays a big part in keeping your staff happy and productive, particularly in the extremes. There can be nothing worse than being stuck in a room that is too cold, or even swelteringly hot. Make sure that the air conditioning is always functional, but also monitored by a single person who works on the office floor. Should you allow every member of staff the control over the temperature then arguments are likely to break out! Be aware that the ability to open windows for fresh air is also of major importance, and will keep your employees feeling invigorated for longer.

We hope that these easy steps towards your staff’s happiness will increase your company’s productivity and help you on the way towards business success!
